When you notice a noise and buzz in the washing machine, the bearing has already begun to wear out. Repair in this case is necessary, and it is advisable to carry it out as soon as possible. Untimely replacement of the bearing in the Hotpoint-Ariston washing machine entails damage to the shaft and other parts of the SMA.
We will tell you how to disassemble the machine yourself, change the broken parts and restore the previous performance.
How to identify a breakdown
It is believed that the bearing life is estimated at 6-10 years. However, there are situations that accelerate wear. Loss of elasticity and tightness of the gland leads to the ingress of water on the bearing, leaching of grease.
If you often overload the CMA drum with laundry, then be aware that you will reduce the bearing life.
Factory defect is the minimum percentage of all breakdowns.
The louder the noise and the stronger the vibration during the spin cycle, the greater the wear. If you spin the drum by hand, and it will rotate non-uniformly - it means that the parts are almost worn out.
The same applies to the appearance of backlash. Rock the drum back and forth. If he moves far away from the tank - this is the backlash, which indicates the need for repair.
Let's see how to independently replace the drum bearing in the Ariston washing machine.
Repair Preparation
Gather tools that are useful in your work:
- screwdrivers (flat, cross);
- a hammer;
- bit;
- pliers;
- nippers;
- puller (if any);
- socket wrenches;
- WD-40;
- glue, sealant.
You will also need new oil seals and bearings for replacement. These two parts must be changed at the same time, even if one of them is less worn out. This is economically viable, because without doing this, after a while you will repair the machine again.
You can find out how much a bearing costs for an Ariston washing machine in any online store. You can select new items by brand and model of washer. Look at the markings on old bearings if the labels are clearly visible.
Now start preparing the machine. Disconnect it from the network. Take a look at whether there is enough space for work and complete disassembly of the SM. It might be better to move to the garage.
Prepare a container to collect water. Close the inlet valve and disconnect the intake hose from the body. Drain the water from it.
Then go to the front wall of the CM. Below you will see a small hatch on the latches. Remove the lid, replace the container and unscrew the drain filter. After draining, proceed to the next steps.
Phased work
We will tell you how to change the bearing in the Ariston washing machine. Dismantling the CM will be identical for Hotpoint Ariston Aqualtis, Hotpoint Ariston ARSL 105, Ariston Margarita 2000 and other models.
Covers and panels
Take a Phillips screwdriver. Go around the washer, standing on the back wall. Remove the two screws on top that secure the top cover. Then slide it forward and remove it from the case.
Proceed to the back panel. Unscrew the screws along the perimeter, set the cover aside. At the same time, remove the drive belt - by turning the pulley by hand, pull it towards you.
Control Panel
Go to the front of the washer. Pull out the detergent dispenser: pull the tray towards you by pressing the lock in the center; get it out and put it aside. Behind it are a few bolts, another 1-2 bolts on the opposite side of the panel. Unscrew them, unfasten the plastic latches.
Now the panel rests only on the wires - you can throw it on top of the case. But if you decide to disconnect, it is better to immediately photograph the location of the connectors for proper connection.
Top part
It is necessary to remove everything from the top of the tank that may prevent it from being pulled out. It:
- Powder collector. Loosen the pipe clamp from the hopper to the tank. Remove the nozzle. Disconnect the inlet valve contacts and remove the fastening screws. Remove the valve with the powder receptacle.
- Counterweight. Remove the bolts securing the upper counterweight and remove it.
- Pressostat. Disconnect the pressure switch hose that is attached to the tank, otherwise it may break when dismantled.
Front Panel
Open the hatch door. Having bent the sealing rubber, pry off the clamp with a screwdriver and pull it off.
Undo the wiring of the hatch lock (UBL) by running a hand behind the housing. First unscrew the two mounting bolts.
If you are afraid of damaging the glass of the door, we advise you to immediately remove it. To do this, unscrew the screws that secure the door hinges, set it aside.
It remains to unscrew the screws around the perimeter of the front panel and remove it. Now unscrew the lower counterweight bolts to remove it.
Rear part
Disconnect the wiring from the electric motor at the bottom of the tank. Remove the bolts (three to four pieces), move the engine forward first, then pull back and remove it from the housing.
Disconnect the heater wiring. The heater itself does not need to be dismantled. If you damage its sealing rubber, you will have to completely change everything.
Also, if wiring is attached around the perimeter of the tank, bite the clamps with pliers and move the wires to the side.
Shock absorbers
The tank is mounted only on shock absorbers and hanging hooks. Remove the shock absorber screws, remove the tank from the hooks and pull out the tank.
You disassembled the washing machine. Now you need to get to the bearings.
Self replacement
Lay the tank on a flat surface.
Immediately you need to remove the pulley - take a wooden plank and lock the pulley wheel so that it does not rotate. With a key, unscrew the bolt in the center; if it does not lend itself, spray it with WD-40.
After removing the pulley, proceed to disassemble the tank. Remove the bolts around its perimeter, release the latches and remove the upper part.
To separate the tank from the drum, you need to hit the sleeve several times, after which the drum will fall out.
Now we will figure out how to replace the bearing on the Ariston washing machine.
You need to start with an external bearing. Before removing it, turn the half of the tank upside down. Place the chisel on the outer ring of the part and hit it several times with a hammer.
Important! You need to beat evenly on the outer clip. If you damage and knock out the inside, then the outer ring will then be difficult or impossible to remove.
If you have a puller, use it. The inner bearing is removable as well.
Prepare a seat. After spraying it with WD-40, wait until the dirt gets wet, clean and grease.
Install a new part in the socket. Now attach the bolt to its outer race and, evenly tapping with a hammer, drive the bearing into place.
From above establish the greased epiploon.
Before installing the drum, be sure to clean the sleeve from rust and scale. For better tightness, apply sealant to the edges of the tank, fasten them with bolts. Assemble the car in the reverse order.
