Installing a gas boiler in a private house, apartment, in the country is a difficult task. It’s not enough just to buy it - you need to get all the permissions and collect the installation documents. You must also comply with the standards of accommodation. In the article you will learn where and how to install the boiler, what rules to follow during its operation.
Norms and rules for installing a heating boiler
Not every room is suitable for gas equipment. In private homes, you must adhere to the rules of SNiP 31-02-2001. In an apartment building, the requirements of SNiP 2.08.01 apply. However, you need to start with the preparation of documents and obtaining permits.
What stages to go:
- Contact GORGAZ with a statement stating the calculations of the consumed gas for heating and hot water supply (DHW) in accordance with SNiP 31-02, clause 9.1.3. The average indicators for one apartment are taken:
- Gas stove - 0.5 m³ / day;
- DHW - 0.5 m³ / day;
- Heating 7-12 m³.
- The application is being considered. If everything is in order, the service draws up a document with technical specifications and regulation of all work. Without this, installation would be considered illegal. The next step is to contact the licensed service to draw up a project based on technical recommendations.
Who should install the boiler? Ideally, a gas service. Therefore, the finished project and other documentation are sent there. What else needs to be attached:
- Documents for equipment;
- Instruction;
- Certificates of technical and sanitary conditions;
- The result of the examination, which confirms compliance with the requirements.
It is important to act in accordance with GOST and observe safety measures, so installation is not possible in an inappropriate room. Some try to place the boiler in a garage, basement, bathroom. But let's find out what norms need to be followed.
Private house
In the room where the installation is supposed to be, there should be good ventilation. Which place might be suitable:
- Ground floor;
- Basement;
- Annexe;
- Attic;
- Kitchen - if the power of the equipment is not more than 35 kW.
Note that there are two rules for mounting in the kitchen. Their conditions vary slightly, so check with the master which one he adhered to. In the first case, it is allowed to use units with a capacity of not more than 35 kW, in the second - not more than 60 kW.
- Boilers with a capacity of 150 kW can be located on the first, basement, basement floor;
- At a power of 151-350 kW, the same provisions apply, but placement in the annex is also allowed.
Kitchen
If you have chosen a place in the kitchen, check the following guidelines:
- The volume of the room is from 15 m³. For every kilowatt of power 1 m³ is relied on;
- Ceiling height from 2.5 meters.
It is necessary to take seriously the creation of ventilation with your own hands:
- Productive range hood. The parameters are calculated according to the triple volume of the room. For single-circuit and double-circuit boilers with an open chamber, a constant flow of combustion air is required;
- The presence of a window with a window leaf with a total area of 0.8 m² and a glass thickness of 2 mm, 1 m² - 4 mm, 1.5 m² - 5 mm;
- Door clearance from the floor - from 0.025 m².
An important point! If the room is combined with the next one so that there is no door between them, then you will not be allowed to put a boiler. The solution may be the installation of shutters, sliding or glass doors.
Separate room
The equipment can be installed in a separate boiler room, if you adhere to the following conditions:
- Height from floor to ceiling 2.5 meters;
- Area from 15 m³;
- Walls should be made of fireproof material: concrete, brick, blocks;
- The rules regarding the hood are similar to those described above;
- Glazing with an area of 0.03 m².
In the case of using equipment with a capacity of 150 kW, there must be a door made of fireproof material that leads to the street or to the utility room with an emergency exit.
Extension
There is no place to place a heating boiler in the house? Then add an extension. The requirements are the same as described above. In addition to this, the developer needs to consider the following points:
- In frame, brick and other types of houses, the extension should be located near a solid wall. The material of the walls must be non-combustible - brick, shell rock;
- A foundation independent of the house is cast, only the walls are connected.
The extension must be registered, otherwise you will not be able to carry gas there. Of course, the premises must comply with all standards, otherwise the responsible authorities may not issue a permit.
What should be provided before outdoor installation:
- The width of the doorway from 0.8 meters;
- Hard floor made of non-combustible materials;
- For overall floor boilers there should be an additional foundation;
- Plumbing and sewage;
- The presence of wiring and sockets;
- Arrangement of the chimney.
If the extension is built of wood, then you need to make a reliable refractory lining.
Chimney installation
Self-assembly of the chimney is also carried out according to the rules of SNiP. The appliance should be as close as possible to the outlet. Make sure that the ventilation is working properly.
The chimney and ventilation ducts must be separate.
A ventilation hole is made outside the bottom of the wall. Steel and corrugated pipes are used to connect the body to the chimney outlet. All connections are sealed with sealant.
To ensure proper traction, observe the height of the pipe:
- Flat roof - elevation of the pipe at least 50 cm;
- Pitched - from 150 cm.
- Pitched (distance from the roof ridge 300 cm) - the height is not lower than the ridge.
- Pitched over 300 cm from the ridge - installation is carried out at an angle of 10 degrees from the ridge of the roof.
Accommodation
In apartments, equipment is installed in the kitchen - there is everything you need. Accommodation in other rooms of a house or apartment is not justified. There are no windows and normal ventilation in the bathroom. The same applies to the pantry with a corridor.
The order and installation scheme of attachments
When buying equipment - Ariston, Bosch, Proterm, etc. - check the presence of all fasteners, connecting elements. Before mounting, it is better to rinse the structure. To do this, remove the plugs and drive the water flow through the system.
Prepare the tools:
- Level;
- Screwdriwer set;
- Pliers;
- Screwdriver;
- Cleaning filter - optional.
Prepare a place for the wall-mounted boiler.
- Under the case there should not be furniture, foreign objects;
- Wooden walls are sheathed with heat-resistant sheets from a thickness of 0.3 cm;
- The distance from the case to the wall is from 4.5 cm;
- The distance from the side walls is 10 cm for non-combustible materials, for combustible materials - 25 cm.
Before mounting, mark out the fastenings for the mounting plate to which the housing will be attached. Distance from the floor: 0.8–1.6 meters.
The installation of the chimney depends on the type of equipment. For a turbocharged, with a closed combustion chamber connection of a coaxial chimney is required. This is a pipe, which consists of two channels: air enters into one, and combustion products are discharged from the other. The pipe is connected to the boiler nozzle.
When installing pipes, consider the location of the filter. It protects the system from clogging, simplifies operation. Shut-off valves are located near the filter - with the help of them you can shut off the water without draining and clean the element. Remove the plugs from the nozzles and connect the water hoses.
Connection to the gas pipe is best entrusted to a specialist. It is not recommended to carry out such work yourself.
Floor boiler installation
Floor-mounted gas appliances - for example, Buderus, AOGV, Navien, Baxi - have large dimensions and power. A reliable reinforced concrete foundation is being built under them.
If the floor is wooden, lay brickwork, tiles and put asbestos sheet on top. The wall is protected in the same way. Then the structure is mounted on the allocated place, a chimney is brought in, the connection to the heating system is performed. For gas-fired boilers, a grounded outlet is needed.
Upon completion of work, a gas inspection arrives, checks to see if everything is correct, and supplies gas. After that, the device can be operated.
Installation can be done independently. But the creation of the project should be entrusted to specialists with a license. Gas supply to the system is also performed by the gas service. This is a safety condition for you and your neighbors.
